I am including full notes from this session because it seems less proprietary and
more like something the panelists would want every illustrator to know.

As soon as the session ended, Leslie Helakoski, left, grabbed me and said we had to get Tomie's
photo, with us, for our regional newsletter. There was of course a huge line to see him and the
other speakers. She handed her camera to Amy, and Leslie and I stood next to Tomie, waiting for
the right moment to break in. My chance came -- I said, "Tomie, we need a photo for the SCBWI
newsletter." He said ok, and started to pose with Leslie and me. But he wasn't smiling. So I
whispered hoarsely in his ear, "Pretend I am washing your feet," and he burst out laughing.
Here, I'm laughing at his response. And Leslie is looking very lovely and photogenic. :)
